Our Law School believes that judicious, honest and equitable application and interpretation of International Law will be beneficial to all and bring peace back into the world.  The program will facilitates a substantial amount of skill refinement in addition to building an advanced knowledge-base for learners and accomplished individuals for effective performance in the rigorous roles of Laws, International Law and Jurisprudence.  Highly qualified professionals with advanced degrees in Laws e.g. International criminal Law, International Business Law, International Penal Law are in growing demand by National and International Organizations, Corporate Organizations, and Multinational Governmental Institutions to lead core Law and Legal Affairs Divisions

 

Doctoral of Laws program consist of well research interdisciplinary courses relevant to the requirements of legal professions; the courses and terminal assignments require a rigorous level of commitment from the candidates. Distinguished and influential degree title of "Doctor of Laws - LLD" is earned by candidates who have completed the prescribed advanced level courseworks with demonstrated theoretical and practical competencies leading to well prepared dissertations which our Dissertation Committee and Subjects Experts recognised as a credible contribution to literatures of the discipline

Eminent Professors and International Legal Practitioners at RCST School Law has carefully researched and developed the professional oriented topics of learning for the Doctor of Public International Law

The learning structure is in three parts:

 

First Part - Taught Courses, will explore core areas of International Laws - that enable students and professionals to advance their knowledge in a wide range of areas of International Public Laws.

 

Second Part - Professional Research Electives, provide student opportunity to independently decide and research on current issues in International Laws and Jurisprudence. Students will develop practical and relevant skills through independent researches related to chosen professional field in Law to enhance their problem-solving and analytical skills.

 

Third Part - Doctoral Thesis - the second part will be complemented with the writing of doctoral thesis in one specific field of interest that the student will independently chosen to deepen knowledge in the field

  SPECIAL NOTES FOR STAGE 2:

 

Professional Research Electives:

Student will decide the Professional Concentration (Degree Major). The Student will complete a minimum of 3 Graduate-Level Courses within a chosen Professional Concentration - Degree Major. The 3 Academic Courseworks MUST correspond to the chosen degree major when writing the Three (3) Research Papers for the Elective Courses

  Analysis of International Criminal Court

 Jurisdictions of International Criminal Court

 Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity

International Criminal Tribunals and Courts

Sovereignty and International Cooperation

 International Legal Standards and Treaties

Administration of Justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC)

 

Proposals For Research Papers (3 Elective Courses):

Student is require to write a Research Proposal for each selected Course within the mandatory Professional Research Electives. The Research Proposal (maximum 3 pages) should be submitted to The Chair, Doctoral Programs (copy: Director, School of Law) for Review and Approval. 

Upon the approval of each respective proposal, the Nominated Supervisor-Professor will send a written respond to the student e.g. Faculty Comment (Approval and Instruction) for each Research Proposal, then the student can start working on the Research Paper for each of the 3 Elective Courses chosen from above

**Thesis Proposal of 2000 words must be submitted for approval before starting the Thesis

DOCTORAL - DPIL Graduation Requirements

 Doctor of Public International Law degree requires the successful completion of minimum of 150 ECTS-Units (European Credits Transfer System) above the Master degree.  Student performance will be measured against acceptable overall academic achievements throughout the study. The Total Cumulative Credits required for graduation can be achieved through the combination of the Learning Groups listed below:

DPIL Program - Candidate Profiles

 Doctor of Public International Laws (DPIL) program is aimed at acclaimed professionals interested in attaining the highest academic knowledge in Law and International Jurisprudence such as Institutional Policy Formulation, Sustainable Legal Frameworks and Development, and willing to contribute to the development of knowledge in the disciplines of International Laws

 

Candidate must be at least 30-years old

Possess Master or Doctorate Degree or equivalent qualifications from recognised institutions

Academic and professional qualifications in the fields of Social Science, Law, etc

 Possess supervisory or management level work experience in private and public organizations
